CHECK, THESE GUYS OUT.

Hey, first post in ages, but I felt I should come and say something. A couple of really good friends of mine are getting serious with their band, and they could do with any publicity possible to get them going. They've been playing together for years, but they've only now got round to making a facebook page and shit, and they're all really good musicians and really top blokes. Their called "Sharks And Danger" (after a pretty awesome song) and I've heard them play and they sound really good. Seriously, if you've got a couple of minutes go over and like their facebook page (Link below).

Latitude Is A Damp Squib.

From the small footage of this years Latitude festival that I saw, I ended up feeling seriously underwhelmed. After enduring Paolo Nuttini's cringeworthy wheezing through his headline set, and even The Vaccine's turn in a surprisingly bland performance. In my opinion it is safe to say that this is a serious step back from last year's festival.

Reading And Leeds Anticipation

Death From Above are back!
The most frustrating thing in my life at the moment is the simple fact that I'm going to miss Reading and Leeds festival this year, despite one of the best line ups in years. In particular Saturday night headliners The Strokes, rounding off their massive festival season, and the UK comeback of noisemeisters Death From Above 1979, as well as the presence of The Vaccines, Edward Sharpe and Hot Water Music. I seriously envy anyone who's going.

Horrible Crowes' And Big Talk's New Releases

Just thought I should mention that Brian Fallon , of The Gaslight Anthem's new project "The Horrible Crowes" has released the second single from their forthcoming album. It's called "Behold The Hurricane" and is really worth checking out. Check out the youtube link here

While I'm in the mood to talk about side projects from members of awesome bands, it should be noted that Ronnie Vanucci of The Killers fame has released a album under the guise of "Big Talk". It doesn't sound much like classic 'Killers, but is definitely worth a listen, and is out this week on Epitath Records.

Skying = Massive Success

After the critical acclaim hurled upon The Horrors last effort " Primary Colours" it's a great relief to see that they have attempted to break the mold with their new album "Skying". This new collection of tracks embraces a variety of musical styles from the baggy vibes of leading single "Still Life", to the krautrock awesomeness of "Monica Gems". It is safe to say that Faris Badwan and co. have ditched the goth influences that shaped their first two albums, and in doing so have produced one of the albums of the year so far.

Rating: 4/5.
If The Horrors can continue to produce music of this calibre as their careers continue, then they may well live up to the suggestions that they could truly shape the music scene of this generation.
